Pianist: Cheryl Deininger Music @ EvansvilleUMC.org
I started attending Evansville United Methodist Church soon after meeting my husband, Donald, in 2007. He was one of several members filling in on the piano bench after their long time organist, Jeanette Krupke, had retired. (Who incidentally, introduced my husband and I … do you think there was an ulterior motive here?) I had only visited a handful of Sundays when Donald coaxed me onto the piano bench to play the offertory, and the rest, as they say, is history. Sitting at the piano is where I feel most at home serving and glorifying our Lord. I enjoy finding fresh new arrangements on old favorite hymn tunes as well as introducing contemporary hymns to the congregation. I especially enjoy joining forces with the choir, instrumentalists, or with my husband in playing four hands on one piano. I would encourage anyone who is new in a church family to jump in wholeheartedly with the skills and talents they have to share and they will be blessed!
Music is definitely my avocation in life. I worked as a registered nurse for 25 years, primarily in school nursing, before returning to school for massage therapy. I have this connection with old houses which most recently led my husband and me into a year-long adventure of remodeling his 1880’s childhood home on the family farm outside of Evansville. We have several interesting tales to tell about our searches for architectural salvage! I have lived my entire life just down the road in Brodhead and am now looking forward to becoming a part of the Evansville community.
